Fast make-over - the living room

I have 17 days until Ethan's birthday and our "new" living room is a mess. We didn't realize how ugly it will look with white walls, brown sofas, dark purple door frames and window seals..<- I mean, who in their mother decided that was a great color to put on. Yuck! Don't even get me started on how the "job" was done. Anyways. Here's an inspirational board of how I'd like our room to look. Of coarse it won't look EXACTLY like this (i wish!), but the color and just a general idea is this

I have a square ottoman with storage inside, really would like to reupholster it, one of the sofas is up on craigslist, instead we want a chair. That way we'll have some space to make a small play area for our boy. I'm thinking it's time to learn how to operate craigslist like a professional and get me some used pieces for cheap ;)

First birthday inspirations

I have a little over month and a half to figure out what is going on with Ethan's birthday (menu, decor, kids activities, healthy cake). At the moment we already decided that we'd have to split the celebration into two days. One for family and one for friends. It's sucks to have a small place to live and not be able to fit all of the great people we love at the same time. As I mentioned before, we want it to be low key simple birthday. To accomplish that we'll invite immediate family and the closest friends with kids, have simple yummy finger foods and snacks, home-made cake(s) and some cupcakes. I already made the invites (went to bed at 1 am which turned my morning into a nightmare boo). Me and sister-in-law will be making some decorations so that overall budget won't kill us in the end. Here's a quick mood board I made to have a visual of what kind of theme I want to create.

The New bedroom idea

After a lot of thinking, talking, sketching me and the husband finally came to agreement that it will be the best if we do swap our living room with bedroom. Soon I'll share really embarrassing photos of our not-so-pretty apartment so you'll have an idea what we are dealing with and a few sketches of how it should look after the swap. Even though the space is small and building is old and walls are covered with paneling (*ewww*) and THEN paint, I think it's possible to make something lovely out of all this mess. Here's a quick share of y mood board of how we envision the "new" bedroom.

When we moved in I painted this room green olive with dark brown windows and door frames. The colors suits the bedroom mood more - definitely puts you to sleep haha! There's also a fire place that isn't working, but is a great place to decorate. So I am excited even though a huge project needs to be done first - laminate flooring!

And here's our new end tables we bought at Antique Mall last weekend.

Lemon-Lime Winter

You don't need all the money in the world to be able to decorate every year in a different theme. If you love DIY projects as much as I do, you'll know what I'm talking about. Here is a little update on what decor I will be creating this year for this Christmas Holidays. I wanted to do something non traditional and very different. So I picked citrus theme :) I'm about half way done. Will be doing a big post after all is in it's place.

Nature is always inspiring

I've always been very bad at collages and such, so forgive me if it's not as pleasant to your eyes as it is to mine :)

After going for a beautiful walk yesterday, when I gathered a bunch of beautiful leaves, then after I came home and read a bunch of wonderful posts from this girl - Kaylah at The Dainty Squid I got all sorts of inspired and this is how this collage came about.

Enjoy, if you can haha

Hope Monday treating you well!
