Fast make-over - the living room

I have 17 days until Ethan's birthday and our "new" living room is a mess. We didn't realize how ugly it will look with white walls, brown sofas, dark purple door frames and window seals..<- I mean, who in their mother decided that was a great color to put on. Yuck! Don't even get me started on how the "job" was done. Anyways. Here's an inspirational board of how I'd like our room to look. Of coarse it won't look EXACTLY like this (i wish!), but the color and just a general idea is this

living room make over inspiration

I have a square ottoman with storage inside, really would like to reupholster it, one of the sofas is up on craigslist, instead we want a chair. That way we'll have some space to make a small play area for our boy. I'm thinking it's time to learn how to operate craigslist like a professional and get me some used pieces for cheap ;)

Reclaimed wood coffee tables love

We do not own a coffee table anymore. Yep. It sucks. But since we had Ethan (who turned 9 months old today and I will be making another post with my letter to him) our living-room became one big pack'n'play. We live in a small apartment and it's only natural that we use the living-room as a play-room. All that's left to do for now is to day-dream about our future home and how we'd decorate it.

Old, vintage/ antique or vintage inspired furniture has a special place in my heart, so as a furniture that was made out of old materials that has aged, rustic look. Coffee table made out of reclaimed wood with few industrial accents (such as wheels) is definitely on my wish list!

Take a look and tell me that you wouldn't want to own one of these beautiful conversation pieces!? Because I wouldn't believe you ;)

The one on the 2nd photo is my favorite. Not kid friendly for sure, so next time I will be posting about home decor..make sure to check back. Will try to find no less beautiful pieces but child friendly.

And if you feel an urge to build a table like this now, watch this video tutorial on HGTV. Doesn't look to hard if you have all the right materials!

Boy's room - sea theme

Since I've started his blog after I had my baby, I won't be bothering and posting "the progress" or "the details" pictures of my son's room and how hard we worked on it. I'll just get right to the point and share the final product, so to speak. But first, please look closely at the room the way it used to look.
It was a tiny, almost square room with one window and one questionable "closet" on the opposite wall, on the left from the door. We had to close that "hole" that was the closet door and move it to a wall that was outside of the room, in the hallway. That way we weren't limited with wall space and the way we wanted to put furniture in. Husband turned the questionable closet into a nice closet but it will be a different post ;)
Are you ready for an amazing transformation...I hope you are, it will blow your mind haha! (or at least it did mine)

Where do I begin. The theme of the room is all things sea and we picked non-traditional color scheme for walls..as you can see. A lot of small things were hand-made or altered after buying them at the store. This week I will share some of the DIY projects we did for Ethan's room. We couldn't be happier the way it turned out and I think our son loves it too!

In the end we spent around $1700 on all of the things, including laminate for the floor and material for the closet that is behind the wall on the last photos.

Let me know your thoughts!
